I used to work for a urologist's office so I am uniquely qualified to answer the catheter question.

Self-catheterization is generally used as a treatment for women to control overflow incontinence. Usually for older women whose bladder muscles have weakened with age, or pregnant women whose uteruses (uteri?) are putting pressure on the bladder, reducing bladder function. Many aren't able to get to the bathroom to pee, especially at night. Or if they can, they'd be up many times over the evening, and get very poor quality sleep.

Even if you don't get up to pee at night, and can "hold it," this can still cause bladder infections, and some women are prone to chronic bladder or urinary tract infections.

But yeah, that women in the commercial, besides being a bad actress, is waaay to young to be using, let alone reusing, catheters.

Oh. My. God. You know it was crazy enough hearing the catheter story first hand. But you found the commercial on YouTube? Holy crap. Can't. Stop. Laughing.

My favorite line is: "Then my mom called. She read about Liberator Medical Supply. Well, I was nervous about callin' strangers, but these strangers, well they quickly became my friends."
